Bihar flood toll reaches 186
Saharsa, Oct 1 (UNI) The toll in the recent floods in north Bihar reached 186 in the worst affected districts of Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura.
Altogether 953 people were reportedly missing from the districts during flood and 608 villages went under flood water.
More than 2,71,533 houses were engulfed by the flood water of the mighty Kosi.
Relief and rescue operations were going on at a rapid pace in the flood-hit region and 235 relief camps and 21 mega relief camps were set up, which administered aid to about three lakh people.
Hundreds of doctors and paramedical staff were pressed into service and 110 health camps organised.
To provide pure drinking water, 1,095 tubewells, including 389 in Supaul, 375 in Saharsa and 349 in Madhepura, were set up in the flood-hit districts.
Altogether 1,738 toilets were also set up in the flood ravaged region.
