Mayawati mourns, alleges poor use of material in collapsed flyover
Lucknow, Sep 30 (UNI) Expressing grief over the death of six people in the flyover collapse incident in the state capital here, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati registered a strong protest with the Centre, blaming poor monitoring of the construction work.
''The state government would soon dash-off a letter to the Central Government in this regard as the tumble down of a flyover being contructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was a matter of concern,'' Ms Mayawati said after rushing to the spot.
Alleging the use of poor material in the construction of the flyover, the Chief Minister said, the NHAI has undertaken several similar projects in the state, which now demanding strict monitoring.
The Central government should immediately ensure a quality check for the other projects in hand, Ms Mayawati added.
