ISRO teams bag IAA award
Bangalore, Sep 30 (UNI) Two scientific teams from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have bagged the prestigious Team Achievement Awards from International Academy of Astronautics (IAA).
The award had been conferred on the ISRO teams for their successful realisation of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C7) mission that launched CARTOSAT-2 and the team that deployed and recovered Space Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE-1).
The awards were presented at a function held as part of the Academy Day of the International Astronautical Congress at Glasgow in Scotland on September 28, an ISRO release said here today.
The PSLV-C7 was the tenth flight of the highly successful PSLV launch vehicle, that was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) in Sriharikota on January 10, 2007.
It had launched four satellites -- India's CARTOSAT-2 and SRE-1, Indonesia's LAPAN-TUBSAT and Argentina's PEHUENSAT-1 into polar orbit.
