IMC urges PM to take stringent steps against labour militancy
Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) Indian Merchants Chamber has appealed to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to initiate immediate steps to stall the growing trend of labour militancy and attacks on CEOs and senior managers.
''Just five days after the CEO of Graziano Transmissioni was brutally attacked and killed by the company's militant workers, the CEO of a software firm, Expedien E Solutions, in Noida has become victim to workers violence. This only goes to show that the workers, who have no respect for the rule of law, are increasingly resorting to violence to achieve their objectives,'' IMC President Mr M N Chaini has said in an appeal to the Prime Minister.
The workers should be strictly dealt in accordance with the law.
''They have proved beyond doubt that they do not appreciate the spirit of Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes' recent appeal for company managements to adopt a sympathetic attitude. They are convinced that they can get whatever they want by terrorizing and lynching the management personnel,'' Mr Chaini said in a release issued here today.
