HC stays special recruitment drive for the post of APO

Allahabad, Sep 30 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today stayed the special recruitment drive for SC and OBC candidates for the post of Assistant Prosecution Officers (APO) slated to be held on October 12.

Passing this order, division bench, comprising Justice V M Sahai and Justice Pankaj Mittal, asked the state of UP and UP public service commission to file reply in the case within four weeks.

The order has been passed on a writ petition filed by Manoj Kumar, challenging the recruitment by UP Public Service Commission on the post of assistant APO in pursuance of an advertisement made in December 2007 as backlog vacancies.

Appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Mr Rakesh Pandey submitted before the Court that 109 vacancies, which were put up for the selection were never advertised in any earlier selection and hence cannot be treated as backlog vacancies. Therefore, the special recruitment drive amounted to hundred per cent reservations, which cannot be permitted.

The Court has ordered to list the case after six weeks.
