Australian Wool Innovation to invest $120 mln dollars in India

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Australian Wool Innovation Ltd (AWI), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of wool industry, plans to invest 120 million Australian dollars in brand building in India over the next three years.

Speaking at the unveiling of 'Merino Knitwear Fall Winter 2009-10 Collection' here last night, AWI Regional General Manager (Asia) Pascal Senkoff said, ''Though we invest very heavily in Research and Development, innovation and marketing, we will remain a 'not-for-profit' organisation.'' ''The availability of high quality, unique, and desirable products are a way for AWI to expand product offerings to the fashion retail market and promote the benefits that only the Australian merino wool can offer. Through this, we intend to reinforce our commitment to bring a new and innovative merino products to the global wool market,'' Mr Senkoff said.

The company, which recently acquired the Woolmark, will now focus on working closely with brands and retailers to deliver wool products more easily to the consumer.

Based on new themes like Merino touch, Merino fresh and Merino Cool, the Fall Winter Collectionc, donned by top Indian models Indrani Dasgupta and Amanpreet Wahi, comprised of 61 exclusive pieces.

Ranging from knitwear to woven apparels involving cotton and linen, both for men and women, the designs are fit for everyday use, and stylish and comfortable too.
