Abondoned girl child adopted as 'Durga'

Barwani, MP, Sep 30 (UNI) An infant, abandoned by her biological parents in the shrubs behind a hospital's maternity ward, was adopted by a couple accepting her as form of goddess on the first day of 'Navratra'.

Police said that the couple, who already had two sons, named the baby as Durga and considered her as deity's blessings.

Jagdish Singh Jhanjhot and driver Gopal Singh found the girl struggling with canine animals in the shrubs behind the maternity ward of the government hospital in Sendhwa town of this district.

Sudama Colony-resident Pooja Bai took the girl to her residence.

Believing the girl -- auspicious -- several women came forward to adopt her.

Pooja and her family brought the child to the police station when the issue of owning the child turned ugly. Poilce handed over the child to Pooja and asked for a report from the hospital furnishing details about the children born there in last week.
