30 trampled to death in stampede in Jodhpur
Jaipur, Sep 30 (UNI) At least 30 people were crushed to death and scores hurt in a stampede during the Navratra Stapana ceremony at the ancient Chamunda Mata Temple in the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur this morning.
Rajasthan Home Secretary SN Thanvi said the crush happened at 0630 hrs when a large number of devotees flocked to the temple for the ceremony.
Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Kiran Soni Gupta said 15 bodies had so far been recovered.
The toll was likely to go up, she said.
The injured were rushed to various hospitals, she added.
