Punjab Minister asks officers to ensure clean enviornment
Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia today today issued strict guidelines to officers of all the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) in the state to provide a clean environment and better sanitation services to the people.
Presiding over a high level meeting of ULB officers the Minister took stock of the solid waste management techniques being adopted in various cities and towns of the state.
He took note of the traffic problems in the cities and town and asked his officers to take effective measures to streamline parking of vehicles outside in front of hotels, shopping malls and hospitals. He suggested that every Local Body should form a traffic regulating agency.
Giving strict instructions, Mr Kalia said the officers should inspect their respective towns twice in a day to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness. He said that debris of buildings which were under construction should be removed through tippers at the expense of the building owner.
He asked his officers to a keep a strict check on the revenue collections from advertisements and hoardings.
