Prisoner injured after falling on Metro track
New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) A prisoner, who was being escorted in a Metro train by Uttar Pradesh policemen, today was injured when he fell on the Metro track.
The prisoner, identified as Joginder (35), was apparently tied by a rope with another prisoner and had just got down from a train at Chandni Chowk.
However, the other prisoner remained inside the train when the doors closed.
The train then started off and the prisoner was dragged till the end of the platform before the rope broke and he fell on the track.
He was shifted to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
His condition was now stable, a Metro spokesman said.
He said as the rope was a soft item, the doors closed. ''Had it been a steel rod or any hard object, they would not have closed.'' The two prisoners were being escorted by three policemen and being taken from Tis Hazari to Chandni Chowk.
