CPI(ML) agitates for flood victims; hands memorandum to UP Governor

Lucknow, Sep 29 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist&Leninist) today observed statewide agitation against police atrocity on the party workers, who were peacefully demonstrating over their demands with Uttar Pradesh government of providing appropiate help to the flood victims in the state.

The party workers staged demonstration in front of Vidhan Bhawan here, whereas in other districts, DM office and block headquarters were the site of agitation.

CPI (ML) workers also handed over a memorandum to the UP Governor T V Rajeswar regarding the same.

It was stated in the memorandum that several lakh cusec of water was released from Banbasa barrage to river Sharda, however, the residents of the area were not informed about the same, neither relief and rescue work was initiated on time.

It was demanded that the officials guilty of laxity should be punished at the earliest.
