Bollywood classics instill new zeal among flood victims
Patna, Sep 29 (UNI) In order to provide solace and peace to the traumatised people of flood-ravaged north Bihar, the Information and Public Relations Department organised shows of old Bollywood classics in various relief camps of the region.
Following the catastrophic floods in the Kosi which totally devastated north Bihar, millions of people took shelter in various relief camps where they got food, shelter, clothes, medicines and other essentials.
But though food and medicine could help the flood victims survive, it could not provide solace to the broken hearts of millions of people, who lost all their belongings, their near and dear ones in the flood water.
To provide solace in the face of psychological trauma suffered by the survivors, the Information and Broadcasting Department decided to entertain the people with the old classic Hindi movies which would help them forget the horrific past.
The officials organised shows of old Bollywood classics in various relief camps where all-time favourites like 'Mother India', 'Do Bigha Zamin' and others had been shown to add a new vigour to the lives of millions of flood victims.
While the flood assimilated people of different castes, creeds and religions under the same roof, the flood victims, living in the relief camps for almost two months, came close to each other and felt for each other's pain.
The films also helped the relief and rescue workers establish better ties with the flood victims, one of the officials of the Public Relations Department said.
