Municipal councils to be closed down

Imphal, Sep 28 (UNI) All Municipal councils in Manipur will be closed down from September 29 indefinitely.

All Manipur Municipal employees and workers union Secretary, S Rajen here said that the employees of Nambol,Ningthoukhong,Bishnupur Moirang,Thoubal,Kakching,Mayang,Imphal and Jiribam Municipal Councils were not getting their pay since March last. Hence they will be constrained to start the stir from tomorrow.

The Union had urged the government to pay regularly about four times by submitting memorandum.

An ultimatum was also served on Sep 5 last but the government failed to respond, Mr Rajen added.
