Laila-tul-Qadar: Lakhs attend night-long prayers in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 28: Lakhs of people joined night-long prayers in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region on the occasion of Laila-tul-Qadar.

People, including women and children, offered prayers in different mosques, Khankhas and other religious places throughtout the night.

The main functions were held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, historic Jamia Masjid, shrine of Peer Dastigir Sahib, Sheikh Noor-uddin Wali at Charar-e-Sharief, Ziarat Mehboob-ul-Alam, Mukhdoom Sahib, Syed Sahib Sonawar, Jenab Sahib Soura and Naqashband Sahib where lakhs of people joined the prayers.

Similar functions were also held in local mosques, Khankhas and other religious places in the Kashmir valley, Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region.

On the night of the Laila-tul-Qadar (Shab-e-Qadar), the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad more than 1400 years ago.
