India lose to USA in semi-final
Chandigarh, Sep 28 (UNI) The Indian boys gave hundred per cent efforts against the strong US team in today's matches semi-final match of the Junior Davis Cup being played at San Luis Potosi (Mexico).
According to a message from captain of Indian team Kawaljeet Singh from San Luis Potosi, Yuki saved five match points in the second set, and won the second set after a gruelling fight in the tie break. Leading 4-1 in the third set Yuki was caught with severe cramps in his thighs and just could not move his legs to finish the set. His heart was there but legs were not with him today.
In the first set Yuki broke Kudla in the third game but was broken in the 8th game to equal the score 4-4. Kudla held his serve and in the 10th game. Yuki serving 30-0 committed two double faults and lost the serve and set 4-6.
In the second set Yuki lost his serve in the fourth game giving US 3-1 lead. In the 8th game Yuki serving 3-5 down saved a match point and held his serve and broke Kudla in the 9th game to equal 5-5.
The 12th game Yuki will never forget serving 5-6 he saved three match points to win the game.
In the tie break at 5-6 Yuki saved the match point again to win the set at 8-6.
Every thing was working very well in the third set. Yuki broke the American in the second game and led 3-0. Soon Yuki was leading 4-1 and Kudla serving suddenly Yuki's legs refused to move with severe cramps. Physio's help was not good enough to make Yuki move. Though he tried his best produced good strokes occasionally but it was not good enough to hold his serve in the 7th and 9th games against 118 ranked American and lost the well fought 2 hours 30 minutes match.
In the first singles Evan King of USA was too good for Saurabh Singh who manged to get two games in the first set.
India play Russia for the third and foruth positions. Russia lost to Argentina in the semi-finals Results (semi-final): India lose to USA 0-3 ( Saurabh Singh lost to Evan King (USA) 2-6, 0-6, Yuki Bhambri lost to Denis Kudla (USA) 4-6,7-6 (6), 4-6, Saurabh Singh and SV Abhishek lost to Evan King and Sarmiento Raymond 3-6, 6-3, 4-6.
