Samsung launches Omnia at Rs 37,999 for 24GB; 32GB at Rs 39,999
New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) After Nokia, its Samsung's turn to compete with Apple's iPhone with the launch of ''Omnia'' priced at Rs 37,999 (24GB version) and Rs 39,999 (32GB version).
''Powered with Windows Mobile 6.0, a five megapixel camera and a 3.2-inch TFT display, the phone is a complete package,'' Samsung Mobile Country Head Sunil Dutt told reporters here recently.
The handset is available in two version with 8GB and 16GB internal memory and expandable up to 16GB.
The 16GB memory card is being provided by Sandisk, which launched the chip recently.
''Though the market is still dominated by entry-level phones (68 per cent), the demand for high-end phones is also on the rise,'' Mr Dutt said.
Asked if the high price would deter the potential buyer like in case of the iPhone, Mr Dutt said he did not expect any such thing to happen.
''The first in the series--Samsung Soul has been doing tremendously well and we expect a similar response,'' he said adding that the company has no plan to launch any scheme to make the phone available on monthly instalments.
