Modernization of Mangalore airport completed by 2009: Oscar

Mangalore, Sept 27 (UNI) The Union Labour minister Oscar Fernandes today said that the work on the integrated airport terminal at Bajpe airport would be completed by February next year.

Speaking to the press persons after inspecting the progress of the work at the airport said that 65 per cent of the work on the integrated terminal had already been completed.

He said that after completion of the renovation of the Mangalore airport in Bajpe will be declared as International airport.

Referring to the recent attacks on the Christian prayer halls in undivided Daxina Kannada and other parts in the state including the state capital, the minister said that the centre had treated this issue as serious.

The chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had also expressed that he was pained due to the incident and assured to the people that he would not allow to recur such incidents in future.

The people from all walks of life should strive to cooperate with the district administration to restore total peace in the district.
