FB Ministers to resign on Sep 30 if licence renewal not withdrawn

Kolkata, Sep 27 (UNI) Left Front constituent Forward Bloc today said all the four Ministers from the party would resign on September 30 if Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's letter for renewing licence to German firm Metro Cash and Carry was not withdrawn immediately.

Addressing mediapersons after the party's state secretariat meeting here, Forward Bloc State Secretary Ashok Ghosh said, ''The way Mr Bhattacharjee has ordered issuing licence to the German firm without even holding any discussion is unprecedented.'' ''We have unanimously decided that all our Ministers will stop going to Writers' Buildings from September 29 and would resign on September 30 if the renewal order letter is not withdrawn immediately,'' he said.

He said, ''We have already sent a letter to Left Front chairman Biman Basu for calling a Front meeting before September 30 for discussion on the issue.'' ''We want a discussion in the Front meeting. And if nothing concrete comes out, Our party will stick to its stand,'' he added.

German firm Metro Cash and Carry had served a 100-hour notice of the state government on September 25 to sort out the vexed Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) problem or face the prospect of its pulling out of the state.
