Patil chairs meeting to review Intelligence strengthening
New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today chaired a meeting to review implementation of measures to strengthen the Intelligence Bureau and Special Branches in States.
The meeting, which lasted one and a half hours, also discussed the likely follow-ups on the issue besides further necessary action to make the implementation effective, according to the Home Ministry spokesman.
Home Secretary, Director of IB and Special Secretary (Internal Security) also participated in the meeting here.
Meanwhile, the Home Ministry also informed that Mr Patil would chair the September 29 meeting of the Northern Zonal Council to be held in Shimla.
The meet, which would discuss internal security, police modernisation, communal harmony and disaster management, would also be participated by Chief Ministers of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and National Capital Territory of Delhi, Governor of Jammu&Kashmir and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The last such meeting was held on October 25, 2005 in Shimla.
