Fake Godman snatches gold chain from a woman in temle
Kancheepuram, Sept 26 (UNI) Police were on the look out for a fake godman for stealing a gold chain from a woman at Kumarikottam Murugan temple here last night in this district of Tamil Nadu.
Police said when a 18-year-old woman Parimala and wife of Vijayan, hailing from Parandur village in this district entered the temple, the goldman advised her to perform puja to ward off the evil, afflicting her and her husband.
The godman performed mysterious puja and when the devotee swooned. he snatched the four-and-half sovereign chain from her neck and escaped from the temple premises.
When the woman woke up, she realised the gravity of the situation and lodged a complaint to the Periya Kancheepuram police station.
A case had been registered and efforts were on to trace the accused, police added.
