Burglar escapes from police custody in Udhampur
Jammu, Sep 26 (UNI) A burglar managed to escape from police custody while he was being taken to the court to appear in a theft case in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
''A burglar escaped from the police custody after he unlocked the handcuff from outside the court in Udhampur town,'' the sources told UNI.
The accused, identified as Rahul Pabha, resident of Pabha Mohalla Chabutra Bazar, was arrested in the theft case under the Arms Act after recovery of a sharp-edged weapon from his possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur has, meanwhile, suspended two police constables Shakeel Ahmed and Sukhdev Singh, the sources added.
Police have registered a case under section 224 of the RPC against the accused.
