One SAF jawan killed, 10 injured in encounter with Maoist guerillas
Rohtas, Sep 24 (UNI) One Special Auxiliary Force (SAF) jawan was killed and ten others were injured in a fierce encounter with the suspected Maoist guerillas, near the Kaimur hills in this south Bihar district tonight.
Official sources quoting DIG Amarendra Kumar Ambedkar said the conditons of at least three of the injured were critical and all of them were admitted to a hospital.
According to a primilinary report, he said the incident took place near the remote Soli village where the suspected guerillas had planted some land mines and when the police vehicle stepped onto it, the mine exploded severely damaging the vehicle.
As the SAF jawans alighted from the vehicle, they came under severe firing from the suspected guerillas in which SAF jawan Kanhaiya Singh was killed on the spot and ten others were injured.
Soon after the incident, strong police contingent rushed to the spot and took injured to the hospital. The body of the SAF jawan had also been sent for postmortem, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the entire area had been cordoned off and a massive search operation was launched to nab the culprits.
