More than 80 Lakh families issued BPL cards : Minister
Gulbarga,Karnataka, Sept 25 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Food and Civil Supplies H Halappa today said more than 80 lakh families of Below Poverty Line(BPL) had been issued ration cards in the State.
Addressing the press he said the government had received 1.24 crore applications of which 80 lakh were found eligible for issuing ration cards.
He said the Centre is extending subsidy for 32 lakh cards and the State Government is bearing the balance cost.
Mr Halappa said in Gulbarga District about 60,000 ration cards for BPL families had been issued. He assured that all eligible families would be given ration cards.
