Honda launches third-gen City at Rs 7.70 lac
New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Premium carmaker Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCIL) here today launched the third generation Honda City, which will be available in the Indian market from November.
''The City is one of our core models, and we are pleased to announce the launch of its third generation...the bookings for the car will begin from today...however, the delivery will be commenced in the month of November only,'' HSCIL President and CEO Masahiro Takedagawa told reporters here.
The new car will be available in three models -- 1.5 MT E (Manual Transmission), 1.5 MT S (Manual Transmission), 1.5 MT S (Auto Transmission) priced at Rs 7.70 lakh, Rs 8.2 lakh and Rs 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
The third-generation City, to be available in six colours, comes with two plus two years warranty.
With the introduction of the new machine, the parent company will put brakes on the second generation of Honda city currently on the Indian roads.
The new City was also launched earlier this month in Thailand, one of the 39 countries where the model has been sold and out of the seven countries where it is manufactured.
The first generation Honda City was introduced in 1996, in response to the growing needs for automobiles in Asian markets.
Along with Civic, Accord, CR-V and Jazz (Fit), City is also becoming one of Honda's core models, with cumulative sales passing the one million unit mark in late May 2008.
