Dharm welcomes Deshpande's appointment as KPCC President

Bangalore, Sep 25 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader N Dharm Singh today welcomed the appointment of Mr R V Deshpande as the new President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.

Reacting to the appointment he said, "Congress President Sonia Gandhi has taken a wise decision by appointing Mr Deshapande".

He said that the decision of the party President was on expected line and expressed confidence that Mr Deshapande would be able to take all the leaders together and strengthen the party.

Mr Deshpande, belonging to Uttara Kannada, has served as minister under chief ministers like Ramakrishna Hegde, H D Deve Gowda, S M Krishna and Dharam Singh.

Elected to Karnataka assembly for seven times, Mr Deshpande however, had lost the election held in May from Haliyal constituency.
