Congress MLAs to donate assembly fees to Sharma family
Gandhinagar, Sept 24 (UNI) Congress MLAs of Gujarat have decided to donate assembly fees they will get during the three-day monsoon session of the legislative assembly, beginning here tomorrow to the family of late police officer of Delhi Mohan Chand Sharma as a tribute to his bravery and martyrdom.
A meeting of Congress Legislative Assembly was organised at Vidhansabha Gruh here, presided over by leader of opposition in the assembly Shaktisinh Gohil. The meeting also reiterated Congress' resolve to fight terrorism. Congress lost two of its leaders - Ms Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi - in its fight against terrorism, still it never tried to take political milege out of it, a resolution passed at the meeting said.
It alleged that instead of fighting terrorism, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and ruling BJP are politicising the issue in the name of Gujarat Control of Organised Crime (GUJCOC), which is shameful.
Congress will also take up issue of loss of crop and property in recent floods in the state and demand proper compensation for farmers and flood-affected people.
State Congress president Siddharth Patel, former Leader of Opposition Arjun Modhvadia and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.
