Youth Congress to take out 'padayatra' against attacks on minorities
Bangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) Karnataka Youth Congress will take out a 'padayatra' in the city tomorrow to highlight the 'failures' of four-month-old BJP Government and protest the series of attacks by the Sangh Parivar activists on places of worship in the state.
Talking to newspersons here today, State Youth Congress President Krishna Byregowda alleged the government had failed to safeguard the interests of people in general and minorities in particular.
''It is not just the attacks on places of worship. The city witnessed serial blasts last month, while communal violence broke out during Ganesha immersion processions. People are battered under the inept rule of this government and we want to highlight this,'' he said.
The Youth Congress workers would take out a rally from Hebbal where a place of worship came under attack on Saturday night. They would march to Raj Bhavan and submit a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur in this regard, he said.
''The attacks had not been isolated but organisations have unleashed an organised attack on minorities and the state government should own up the responsibility,'' he added.
