Swan Telecom may tie-up with UAE's Etisalat
New Delhi, Sept 23 (UNI) Country's telecom firm Swan Telecom is going to tie-up with the UAE's telecom giant Etisalat for providing services in the country.
''I am told unofficially that one of the companies which got spectrum in some of the areas is going to align with Etisalat,'' Telecom Minister A Raja told reporters on the sidelines of a conference here.
When asked about the domestic company involved in the tie-up, he said, ''Swan, Swan... informally I am told.'' However, he declined to give further details on the issue.
Earlier, the media had reported that Etisalat would acquire a 49 per cent stake in India's Swan Telecom for about 1.3 billion dollars.
Swan Telecom had received the licence for rolling out operations in 13 circles in the country.
Etisalat, which operates in 16 countries across Asia, West Asia and Africa, has a presence in India, through its data services subsidiary Technologia in Bangalore.
