Rahul visits police station where Nehru was detained

Jaito, Sep 23 (UNI) Congress general secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi today visited the police station where Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was held during the freedom struggle.

During the second day of his three-day youth motivational drive in Punjab, Mr Gandhi paid a visit to the Jaito police station and spent sometime in the room where his great grandfather was detained by the British police.

Pandit Nehru had come here in 1923 to join the Sikhs in the 'Jaito Morcha' against the Colonial Rule and was arrested by the British rulers.

Mr Gandhi also held a brief meeting with some freedom fighters also and paid obeisance at Gurdwara Tibbi Saheb.

The Congress leader had earlier taken a round of a primary school in Kotbhai village of Bhatinda district and intracted with the students there.

He quizzed the children over what they wanted to become and appreciated the dreams of many of them. He was accompanied by a number of senior party leaders.
