Presidential form of govt would be catastrophic: Somnath

Chandigarh, Sep 23 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today diapproved the Presidential form of government, saying it would be catastrophic.

''If the power is given to an individual, it would be catastrophic,'' he said while talking to newspersons after conclusion of a symposium on 'Anti-Defection Law-Need for Review' here.

He declined to comment on the expulsion of former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh from the state Vidhan Sabha, saying the matter was sub-judice.

He asked mediapersons to highlight good things in the polity along with the critical reports.
