Pawar to inaugurate intl seminar on rural poor in Goa tomorrow

Panaji, Sep 23 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will inaugurate a four-day international seminar on ''Strategies for Improving Livelihood Security of Rural Poor'' here tomorrow.

The seminar jointly organised by the International Society of Extension Education (ISEE), Nagpur, ICAR Research Complex (Goa) and Maharastra Society of Extension Education (MSEE), Rahuri would be held at Kala Academy in Panaji.

ISEE president A G Sawant and organising secretary of the seminar Dr V Veerbhadraiah today said about 250 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in the seminar, where they would present the papers on various themes.

Mr Sawant said Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Legislative Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane and Agriculture Minister Vishwajeet Rane would be the guests of honour.

Dr Mangala Rai, Secretary in Department of Agricultural Research and Education and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, would deliver the key note adress.

In the seminar, discussions would be held on various issues relating to the improvement of livelihood in rural areas. The main themes of the seminar include livelihood security approaches for rural youth and women and diversification of livelihood for small and marginal farmers, he added.
