Meeting ultras irks PAMRA
Aizawl, Sep 23 (UNI) Talking to underground outfits for free and fair election in Mizoram was nothing but a show of defeat, said Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA).
Mizoram Presbyterian Church-sponsored Mizoram People's Forum (MPF) and Young Mizo Association (YMA) had met leaders of some insurgent groups asking for co-operation to ensure free and fair Assembly election this year-end.
Taking a strong exception to the meeting the association today said that these underground organisations of the neighbouring states will never have influence over Mizoram politics and asking for their help was meaningless.
Why should we bow before them, they questioned.
The underground outfits have also reportedly given assurances that they would not interfere in the Assembly election.
The Mizos must stand united against militants threat.
Instead of talking to them, we must warn them against interfering in our politics, Pamra president B Zorampara said.
