CPI(M) welcomes official-level talks between India, Pak on trade
Srinagar, Sep 23 (UNI) Welcoming the official-level talks between India and Pakistan on resuming trade through the Jhelum valley and other roads, the Communist Party of India (M) today said people of the state look forward for its formal announcement.
''We welcome the outcome of the official-level talks between India and Pakistan on bilateral trade through the Line of Control (LoC), CPI(M) state secretary Mohd Yousuf Targami said in a statement here today.
He said the people of both the countries, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir, are looking forward to a formal announcement on the opening of the LoC trade routes by leaders of both the sides, when they meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
He expressed hope that with this formal announcement, trade across the LoC will commence.
The opening of the LoC routes for trade will go a long way in mitigating the sufferings of the Jammu and Kashmir people, who till now depended only on one route which gets blocked frequently in winters, following bad weather.
He hoped that this step will go a long way in rejuvenating the process of peace and reconciliation initiated with high expectations.
