Couple dies in road accident in Orissa

Rourkela, Sep 23 (UNI) A middle-aged couple were killed and their two-year-old daughter injured when a truck hit their motorcycle on National Highway-10 between Deogaon and Panposh, about 10 km from here today.

Police said the couple died on the spot, while the injured girl was rushed to the hospital.

The driver of the truck absconded after the accident and a manhunt had been launched to nab him, police added.

Meanwhile, an irate mob blocked the National Highway for more than two hours demanding that the driver be arrested, condition of roads be improved and adequate traffic police be deployed.

Later, the mob cleared the road after getting assurance from the authorities, in this regard.
