Cong. demands CBI inquiry into multi-crore royal property sale scam

Mandi, Sep 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Congress President Kaul Singh Thakur today demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the multi-crore royal property sale scam in Mandi town.

Talking to reporters here, he alleged that some influential persons of a political party were involved in the scam and only an impartial inquiry could unfold the source of crores of rupees invested in the purchase of primary land of ex-ruler at a throwaway price.

The scam had culminated in the murder of a private financer whose dead body was fished out from an open reservoir of the BSL Project, Sundernagar, in a mutilated condition last month.

He urged the state government that the entire land of sale scam should be acquired at sale deed price.

The Congress chief charged Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal with adopting step-motherly attitude towards the second largest district of the state, saying the issue of Government Medical College had stirred the people who were ready to make all sacrifices for setting up of a government medical college.

He warned that the simmering resentment could take a form of big agitation. A rally under the banner of Congress party would be held at Mandi shortly and strategy would be drawn out for a vigorous struggle if the good sense did not prevail with the Government.

Mr Thakur said health and education services in the state had been paralysed for want of staff and no remedial measures were being taken by government. As many as 900 posts of doctors were vacant in the state, he lamented.
