Students boycott class over removing Goddess Saraswati's picture

Seoni, MP, Sep 22 (UNI) Students of a missionary school here today boycotted class and staged a demonstration in protest of the decision of the school principal for not allowing putting up of a picture of Goddess Saraswati in class.

Principal Shalini Singh has ordered that pictures of Goddess Saraswati be removed from classes and no new pictures of the deity be put up. Angered at the decision, students of class XI (Arts) boycotted the class.

Ms Singh said she had ordered to remove the picture of the deity from class XI (Arts) on September 15. She said the government had not given any such order that picture of any deity be put up in a missionary school.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) district president Narendra Thakur strongly criticised the incident.

A meeting of the school management, students and the district administration was organised in the control room here.
