MCX composite index of metals, energy surges

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) The composite index of metals and energy was up by 2.03 per cent at 2,728.69 points, at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today.

Gold October 08 contract gained by 1.27 per cent at Rs 12,871 per 10 grams. Silver May 09 contract went up by 3.84 per cent at Rs 20,674 per kg, an MCX release said.

Platinum September 08 contract moved down by 1.95 per cent at Rs 16,953 per 10 grams.

Copper November 08 contract gained by 1.29 per cent at Rs 322.30 per kg, Zinc November 08 contract by 2.56 per cent at Rs 84.25 per kg, lead November 08 contract by 2.54 per cent at Rs 88.65 per kg and Nickel November 08 contract by 1.61 per cent at Rs 818 per kg.

Crude Oil January 09 contract surged by four per cent by Rs 4,837 per barrel.

Kapas April 09 contract rose by 0.29 per cent at Rs 513.50 per 20 kgs, Mentha Oil December 08 contract by 1.05 per cent at Rs 664 per quintal and jute December 08 contract by 1.15 per cent at Rs 1,799 per quintal, the release said.
