Man gets lifer after 19 yrs of murder

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Almost after 19 years of the incident, a local court today awarded life imprisonment to a person for murdering his uncle at Bandra in the western suburbs here.

Sanjay Deorukhkar (45) was convicted by Additional Session Judge G V Avsarmole under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Additional Public Prosecutor Kiran Raikar told the court that Deorukhkar had killed Donduram Masurkar on August 26, 1989 following a tiff over his affair with Masurkar's wife Laxmi Masurkar.

Deorukhkar, accompanied by his friend Santosh Parap, had stabbed Masurkar and abandoned his body in the sea near Sea Rock Hotel at Bandra, the Prosecutor told the court.

During the trial, prosecution had examined 13 witnesses, including daughter of the deceased, who testified against Deorukhkar and said he had returned home with bloodstained clothes on the day of the murder.
