AASU continues to oppose Mahanta

Guwahati, Sep 22 (UNI) The All Assam Students Union (AASU) today criticised the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for bringing in former rchief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta to the AGP fold.

Talking to newspersons here, AASU advisor Dr Samujjal Kr Bhattacharya said the AASU would not take it lying down and continue to oppose Mr Mahanta's re-entry. A final decision in this regard would be taken in an emergent executive meeting convened on September 26, he added.

The AASU made it clear that they had not softened their stand with regard to Mr Mahanta, alleging that the former Chief Minister was instrumental in the secret killings in Assam.

The AASU, however, has no opposition to the unification of other regional forces in the state.
