Temple thatched shed gutted in fire

Puducherry, Sep 20: The thatched shed of the Puthumariyamman temple at Embalom near here was gutted in a fire on Saturday, Sep 20.

Police said tension prevailed in the areas, as the villagers alleged that some miscreants had set fire to the shed, but the police ruled out the possibility of fire in the shed.

The fire was lit to a near-by brick knell and sparks from it might have caused the fire or fire from the camphor lit in the temple light might have caused the fire, police added.

A case had been registered and an investigation was underway.
