Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Social Welfare Department has disbursed an amount of Rs 78.48 crore among 27,4612 beneficiaries under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) during 2007-08.
An official spokesman said today that the ISSS scheme which was introduced in the State during 1994-95 envisages financial assistance to old age, women in distress at the rate of Rs 200 per person per month and Rs 300 per beneficiary who are physically challenged.
The assistance is being paid to the deserving beneficiaries at their doorsteps through money order.
Besides, physically handicapped and the widows and divorcees in the age group of 19 to 45 years are being provided a lum-sum aid to the extent of Rs 3500.
He said during the year 2007-08, the department was allocated Rs 85.33 crore of which it spent Rs 78.48 crore covering 274612 beneficiaries under the scheme.
During the current financial year a provision of Rs 107 crore has been earmarked for covering 350612 beneficiaries.
Similarly under another scheme namely National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), the Department has disbursed Rs 27.05 crore against an allocation of Rs 27.19 crore amongst 77649 beneficiaries against a target of 92029 beneficiaries during the year 2007-08.
During the current financial year an amount of Rs 39.71 crore has been earmarked for covering 134935 beneficiaries.
This scheme covers two components namely National Old Age Pension and National Family Benefit Scheme.
