PM promises Cabinet meet soon on Ganga clean-up plans
New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said a Cabinet meeting would soon be convened to discuss measures to clean the river Ganga.
He gave this assurance to a delegation led by Yoga guru Ram Dev.
Swami Ramdev also urged the Prime Minister to declare river Ganga as a symbol of national heritage and it should be treated as national river.
He also demanded that strict action should be taken against those who pollute the river.
Swami Ramdev's spokesman said Dr Singh gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured the members that he will do everything possible to restore Ganga's lost glory.
Union Minister of state Sriprakash Jaiswal was also present at the meeting.
