Seven held guilty in Roma Jhawar abduction case
Barasat, Sep 19 (UNI) A sessions court here today held the prime accused and his six accomplices guilty in the Roma Jhawar abduction case.
Additional District and Sessions judge Samaresh Prasad Chowdhury found the seven accused guilty under sections 364A, 120B and 342 of the IPC.
Two accused were acquitted in the case while one was absconding.
The verdict on the quantum of punishment will be pronounced tomorrow.
According to charges, the convicts abducted Roma Jhawar, daughter of a local businessman, on February 4, 2005 when she was going to her college. They had demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. She was later recovered by the police.
