RTI a tool to solve problems in democracy: Reddy
Kovvali,Andhra Pradesh,Sep 19(UNI) Andhra Pradesh State Information Commissioner R Dileep Reddy today said the Right to Information Act was a tool to solve problems in a democracy.
Spaeking at a meeting on ' Right to Information' as part of the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign here, he opined that the Act cannot directly solve public grievances but only show the way for its solution.
He underlined the need to bring awareness among people on RTI, he said.
He urged the people to imbibe the right to question about the results of welfare schemes intended to them from the government under the Right to Information Act.
He also explained the penalty clause of the Act which stipulates the government to pay Rs 250 per day for the failure to provide information within 30 days from the date of complaint under the Act.
