Chennai, Sep 19(UNI) The Udhagamandalam-based IndcoServe, the apex body of the co-operative tea factories in Tamil Nadu, has won the bid to provide 600 metric tonnes of leaf tea worth Rs 5.5 crore for Army.
IndcoServe has quoted the lowest bid when compared to two other firms: State Trading Corporation and the Gujarat-based Bharatiya Food and Cooperative Directorate and had won the bid when tenders were opened on September one.
An official release here said IndcoServe would provide the requisite tea for Indian Army for the month of October and November.
This would offer better price for small tea-growers in Nilgiris district, the release added.
