Flood situation improves in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Sep 19: Flood situation has improved in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, following a let-up in incessant rains that lashed the state for 60 hours.
A state flood control centre spokesperson told UNI that water was fast receding in Pairi river besides other rivers and rivulets.
Request for military assistance was being withdrawn.
Apart from food packets and other relief materials being dropped by helicopters, motorboats and boats were providing relief in affected areas. About 400 people are safe in two villages submerged in flood near Gariaband.
Flood situation was improving in about 10 villages in Dhamtari district. Regional Meteorological Centre warned of rains in isolated places in Bilaspur-Raipur and Bastar divisions over the next 24 hours.
