Fire in Mahalaxmi Race Course building; no casualties
Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI) A fire engulfed the members building of the Mahalaxmi Race Course in central Mumbai, gutting property worth lakhs of rupees today.
The fire, which broke out at 1400 hrs, was immediately brought under control by the fire brigade, which rushed 10 fire engines to douse the flames, fire brigade sources told UNI.
The sources said furniture worth lakhs of rupees was damaged on the second floor of the building. There were no casualties as the stands were empty. The racing season was at present on in Pune.
The cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained, the sources said adding this was the second incident of fire in the same building in recent months.
