BJP eyes horticulture sector to fulfil employment promise
Shimla, Sep 19 (UNI) Horticulture sector had great scope for generating employment and self-employment avenues, Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister, J P Nadda said here today after presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for implementation of Election Manifesto.
Stressing that the state government was committed to fulfil its promise made in the BJP poll manifesto to create employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the State, Mr Nadda directed the officers to identify such avenues and prepare projects to achieve the objective.
Forest Minister stressed upon exploring scope for cultivating medicated mushroom (Rishi mushroom) in the state and added that department should chalk out a plan to popularise cultivation of medicated mushroom.
He said mushroom cultivation had vast scope and could fetch more income to farmers.
He said diversification of agriculture activities was the need of the hour and asked the officers of Horticulture department to create awareness among the rural farmers in this regard.
