Andaman Chambers of Commerce against ''misuse of LTC''

Port Blair, Sep 19 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) today clarified that it is not against LTC Tourism but against the reported misuse of LTC in the Islands.

''We have never opposed LTC tourism as is alleged by some groups.

We are only against its misuse by some mainland based tour operators, causing huge loss of government exchequer,'' ACCI general secretary G Bhasker told UNI today.

Last year, the ACCI had organised a protest in Andaman on World Tourism Day against the alleged activities of some tour operators of the mainland, who were sending LTC Tourists to Andaman in bulk and earning huge commission.

''The tour operators block tickets of Airlines at very low rates but charge full rate from the government thus earning huge margin,'' he said.

Recently, the Andaman and Nicobar Tourist Vehicle Driver Welfare Union organised a rally in Port Blair demanding resumption of LTC tourism for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
