Police begin investigating threat to Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Sep 18: Police have begun investigating a threat to the life of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Akhilesh Yadav received on the mobile phone of his personal assistant.

State Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brijlal said here today that a case was registered at Hazratganj police station last night and investigation was underway.

Mr Yadav is the son of SP supremo and erstwhile Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The threat call was received last evening on the mobile phone of Gajendra Singh, Personal Secretary to Mr Yadav.

A similar threat case was recently filed by former BJP MP and Mahant Ramvilas Vedanti at Faizabad. However, during the police probe, it was detected that the threat call was made by two supporters of the BJP leader.

Later, police officials rejected the case terming it fraud.
